Bend Deduction Calculator

Bend Deduction (BD) represents the amount subtracted from the total flat length of a sheet to account for the bend region. It is the difference between the sum of the two leg lengths and the flat length of the part.

BD = 2 × OSSB - BA

where:

  • BD = Bend Deduction
  • OSSB = Outside Setback = (R + T) × tan(A/2)
  • BA = Bend Allowance = π × (R + K × T) × A / 180
  • R = Inside Radius
  • T = Material Thickness
  • K = K-Factor
  • A = Bend Angle (degrees)
